Textbooks

Frequently asked questions about Textbooks.

  • How long do I have to wait in line to buy books in September?

You don't have to wait in line at all this year regrettably.  All orders for course materials will be completed online and shipped via Fedex (Priority Courier to orders with a PO Box).  Please place your orders as soon as possible to allow us to ship in time for classes.

  • My course isn't listed in the textbook search engine. Why?

The Campus Bookstore posts book lists as soon as they are received by the course instructor.   If your course is not listed, it is because:

    • The Instructor has not selected any books for the course yet.
    • There are no books required for the course.

We encourage faculty to choose textbooks for their courses as soon as possible, however we do receive textbooks adoptions from faculty up to the first day of classes. If you are unsure contact your instructor to find out why no books have been chosen for your course.

  • When should I buy my books?

This year is different.  Typically we recommend that students wait until they attend their first class before buying their course materials, however this year you should purchase your materials as soon as you have selected your courses.  This will allow us to ship them to you in time for your first class.

  • Are most of your books in?

Yes, you can check our website using your course code (ie. ANAT100).  If the book is in stock you will see it along with the price of the book.

  • What is your return policy?

If you need to return an item for any reason we ask that you keep it in the same condition as it was purchased and return it to us via mail or in person with a copy of your receipt or order information.  Our return deadline for the fall term is typically 3 weeks from when your class begins (September 7th)...so September 28th.

We understand however that this year is different again.  If you have a special need or request please reach out to us at frontdesk@campusbookstore.com so we can help.

  • What is the difference between required books and recommended?

The use of a required book is critical to the success in the course, and the portion of the book used is between 50% - 100%. The contents of the Recommended texbooks are complementary to the course content, even though the use of the book is not critical to the success in the course. Students should be notified by the instructor of the usefulness of the recommended book as a reference tool.

  • Do I need to buy the "recommended" books as well as the "required" ones?

Technically the "recommended" books are not critical to success in the course. However, we suggest you wait until the first day of classes to decide. Generally, professors will inform students exactly how important the "recommended" texts are.

  • How do I place an online adoption?

  • I am a student living in residence. Can I get my books shipped to me?

This year we will be shipping to residence.  When you place your order online please type in your residence hall and room number.   The postal code should be K7L 3N6.  Orders for residences will be grouped and sent to a central location which in turn will be distributed to your residence and then on to you.  Conversely, should you wish to have your books shipped to your house you can order online now and we will ship via FEDEX so you have your course materials when you arrive.

  • I'm not sure what courses I am taking. How do I find out what textbooks I need?

In order to find out which textbooks are needed it is essential that you know what courses you are taking. Check your timetable on your Solus account to find the course codes.

  • How can I find out what textbooks I need if my course code is not online?

If your course code is not online it simply means that your professor has not yet chosen a book for the course. It can also mean that there are no required books for the course.

  • What are your shipping rates?
